You may have noticed a few minor changes to the blog in the last few days. Some will probably be harder to pick than others but I’m willing to be a few things really stood out like the picture of me standing next to this post! Well I’ve just got the update of Standard theme (v.3) which was a FREE upgrade (I do love free things). I’m actually using the same theme on my Teaching blog ELT Squared and I will also use it for a new project that I should be able to release fairly soon!
There are a few reasons why I really like this theme, for one it was developed by John Saddington aka Tentblogger who is someone I’ve followed for a while and even helped me out before I was a customer with him.
It also has some very nice little features [here is the official standard 3 features list] like the recent activity box, the sharing options, the social media icons, and the search engine optimisation that it has built into the theme. Although a lot of these features aren’t that essential for this blog they are very helpful for my teaching blog and certainly don’t harm this blog.
By the way, if your interested in buying this theme for your own blog (needs to be a self hosted wordpress) then if you use this link I will get some money back. What’s more if you use the code Standard3 before 4th July then YOU get 15% off Click here to view more details (please bear in mind this may not be right for you. Free blogs are great so don’t feel compelled to buy it).
I am also hoping to do a bit more updating to this blog including such little things as a little picture to make things look a bit more interesting. If you have any nice ideas for good features then please do suggest them (this goes for ELT Squared as well. If you’d like to suggest a feature for that then I’d be very grateful.)
As a final little bonus here are a few good things from around the web recently
- The Well’s series on 1 Peter and suffering.
- All the poor and powerless originally by Sons and Daughters but I really like the cover by The Digital Age.
- 24-7 prayer celebrated 10 years of the vision and the vow
- I wrote a blog post on my teaching blog about what is evernote? (a program I really like and you might too)
- TSK post about the Egyptian church and government was a really great insight into potential problems there.
