One of the things we are big fans of at Streettogs is getting inspiration from other great street photographers. That’s why we do things like #MondayMasters but also why we advocate buying books not gear and share good book reviews. However, as a newbie to street photography you might have no idea where to even begin looking for inspiration. That’s where Street Photography Now can be a great book to check out.
Street Photography Now is a book with a collection of some of the greatest street photographers around at the moment (although since publishing, Christopher Agou has passed away). You get a selection of some of their greatest photos plus an brief explanation of their work. In some cases there are quotes from the photographers and there are a few brief articles around the common themes in street photography at the moment.
This is a great book to encounter some modern street photographers who aren’t the classic recommendations of Henri Cartier-Bresson. It’s also a great collection of some of the best street photographs that you can find around which makes it great value for money. However, it won’t have the same impact as a well put together series or project such as those mentioned in the book. I really recommend street photography now for anyone looking for some new inspiration but not perhaps someone who is very well versed in Street photographers.
