You may have noticed that I’ve changed the look of this site here in the last day. That’s because I’ve added 80% of the features I wanted to add for my first child theme (the last one is a little tricky) for the record that means I’ve
- change the font from Lato to Montserrat for Headers and Neuton (ummmm Neuton) for the body.
- changed the size of the font to make it nicer to read on
- added featured image on posts before the content (but after the title)
- added an “after post” widget area.
There’s a couple more things I want to change (the colour of some of the backgrounds, and super special feature which is much harder to work out how to do than I intended) but I’m really pleased with how this theme has progressed. I discovered that using Genesis to develop for is VERY easy due to it’s “hooks”.
When I’ve finished added these extra features I’ll release it as a download for free, you’ll need a copy of Genesis but that’s the way it works. Maybe I’ll make a free theme that can work on any WordPress site but that would take more knowledge on my half than I have at the moment.
What else should I add?
If you can think of any other features that would improve this theme let me know and I’ll try adding them.
